Director of Technical Evangelism
Saiyam is working as Director of Technical Evangelism at Civo with a focus on defining the Civo cloud platform for simplifying Kubernetes and making it accessible for developers. Previously at Walmart Labs, Oracle, and hp, Saiyam has worked on many facets of k8s including machine learning platform, scaling, multi-cloud, managed k8s services, and k8s documentation. He’s worked on implementing Rancher and Influx in different organizations.
When not coding, Saiyam works on contributing to the community by writing blogs and organizing local meetups for k8s, rancher, Influx. He is also an Influx ACE, Traefik Ambassador, CNCF ambassador, and can be reached on twitter @saiyampathak.
GitOps at scale using Fleet
As the number of Kubernetes clusters under management increases, application owners and cluster operators need a programmatic way to approach cluster management.
Rancher’s Fleet is an open source project focused on managing fleets of Kubernetes clusters that aims to solve multi-cluster application deployment and management by creating a git driven engine for applying cluster changes. Declarative code is stored in a git repo. As changes are committed to the repo, linked clusters are automatically updated.
GitOps keeps all the clusters consistent, version controlled, and reduces the administrative burden as you scale. Deployment manifests can be defined in Helm, Kustomize or k8s yaml files and can be customized based on attributes of the target clusters.
In this talk we will walk through getting started with Rancher’s Fleet and cover:
